I place each and every itsy bitsy bead or glass by hand with

 

tweezers and a magnifying glass.  Then I am blind for an hour or so. :)

Aiken Get Square with Mosaic July 15 - August 25 Welcome to mosaic in a square way. This workshop will cover all the basic information for the beginning student, starting with the first portion of 4 x 4 tile projects. Once you gain your confidence, you can choose to create the mirror project as well. Kits are available for purchase, choose which ones you'd like to do. You will learn about the process of creating a mosaic piece; cutting, adhesion, and tile layout. Students will be introduced to materials such as glass tile, art glass, china, ceramic tile, and more. Students are encouraged to experiment with color and texture to discover the possibilities of mosaic. This class will include patterns and a few more surprises that she is only sharing in this online class.  About: Laura K. Aiken can't remember a time when she didn't love to color and to this day she hasn't changed. Creativity is a big part of Laura's life, and she has to create, and she loves to create for others. Laura has been playing with mosaic work since 2002 and drawing and painting playfully since she could hold a crayon. She lives with her husband Chris who had no idea what he was getting into when he married her, and a son James who is trying to understand his mother now that's he is in his 20's. Her assistant Gracie, the talking cat, is beautiful but an almost a worthless worker except for posing for photographs. Laura K. Aiken's artwork has been featured in books, magazines publications and on HGTV-Home and Gardens Network to name a few. Her works can also be seen in churches, schools and several businesses around the United States and Europe. Her studio where she teaches her workshops is located in beautiful Heritage Historic District in downtown Greenville, South Carolina. Mosaic Art by Laura K. that will be perfect for any room.
Laura will share a technique that does not include grouting.
This is a great class for beginners and advanced students.

Free Flow Mixed Media Painting

Ever looked a the clouds, as a child, and found a shape of a cat or a figure of a lady? Well, that is what this workshop is all about! You will be finding your own style just by painting and creating new layers. Your shapes will be whimsical and funky You will learn about design and color, recycling art & using what you have on hand and to just let go! It's a "stress free", "free flowing" day of fun. Great for groups but please make your reservation asap as there is limited seating. No experience necessary.
